Kiln formed solid glass sculptures composed of 10,000 to 15,000 individual "canes" or rods of glass. Canes are made by pulling hot glass from a furnace to lengths of up to 40 feet, and are then cut to fit into a mold. Each colored thread surrounded by clear glass is then hand placed into a mold to form the desired composition. The heating or "firing" process melts all the individual pieces into one solid block. The final step is the polishing all sides to a high polish. Sizes are approximately 14 x 12 x 2.5 inches.
